5/3/2020 Virus Update
At the Carlsbad City council meeting on Friday, May 1, 2020, a decision was made to continue to keep parks and community centers closed.

The Bad News…we will not be playing during the month of May.

The Good News…when we come back, we will most likely be back at Stagecoach Park!

At the appropriate time, the officers and commissioners will discuss how to handle scheduling for the remainder of the summer softball season, 4th of July, and the upcoming winter football and softball seasons.

We will continue to monitor the situation with the City of Carlsbad.

Stay safe, keep your distance, wash your hands,

Karl Burk
President
La Costa 35 Athletic Club

We would like to thank Steve Collo for his five years of service to LC35 as President.  John Champ has created artwork from a photo and Ron Josephson and Mark Dushkin wrote a brief tribute.

See John’s Artwork here.   See the write-up here.

Rachel Wright, the La Costa Canyon High School softball coach, was thrown a curve ball the day after Easter. A brain tumor rocked her world and knocked her down, but not out. See the article by LC35 member, sportswriter and author Jay Paris about Rachel and how LC35 reached out to her to help.  If you want to donate to help Rachel, Encinitas’ St. Mark Lutheran Church is accepting contributions at http://www.stmarkchurch.net.

Long time LC35 member Alan Fischer has written a powerful and impactful story of his combat experiences as an A6 Intruder pilot in Vietnam. “The Death Mist” addresses trust, faith, teamwork, and dedication. Like Pat and Tommy’s books, it can also be bought on Amazon.

Longtime LC35 members Pat Steele and Tom Stern have each written a book.  Pat’s novel, Scorpion Bay is an action-adventure fiction novel about struggle, turmoil, drug addiction, redemption, and success that is partly set in Mexico.   Tom’s book, Just Lucky I Guess, is a series of short story adventures based on his life.  Both are available on Amazon.
